Hello, im new on hear but so stressed out im hoping someone can help :mad:
recently i had 2 late payments WITH A DEFAULT on my credit file for both gas and electric with eon for the months aug, sept, October 14. Ive been calling (many times) as the information is wrong. Ive checked the accounts and all payments are up to date....and im keep being told yes it will be amended. ...so today again i call for an update and told i was late paying LAST NOVEMBERs bill so theyve put a default on now...like the defalt has gone on this month!!I just dont understand how ive 3 late payments in a row as i pay quarterly and a default? ? AND this is from last year? I have made regular payments all year :/ can they do this??
Ive just looked through last years statements and the accounts were paid....OMG...Back on the phone tomorrow it is then

    Yes, they can. They just did.

    That said, they're wrong.

    Phone them again and ask to speak to a manager. Keep the bank statements handy so you can provide dates. Mention that if it isn't sorted you'll refer it to the Energy Ombudsman.

    If that fails I'd write a letter to them (headed COMPLAINT) with copies of the bank statements showing it was paid, possibly referencing the ICO and the Energy Ombudsman.

    Hi Debbiegf,

    When we share with Equifax, we give a true reflection of the status of an account at the time of the share.

    Just trying to understand what’s happened here. Accounts don’t go to default until a debt is over six months old, we wouldn’t share a default for three missed payments.

    Have you spoken to us again to get a complaint opened on your account?

    Have you sent us a copy of your bank statements? Covering anything that shows your personal details.

    I think it's also worth mentioning, we don't just share payments information of customers who don't pay, we also share information on those who do, so those who pay promptly receive monthly positive entries on their credit reports.
