Computer damaged when sent back for repair

Hi
I would be really grateful for any advice anyone can offer.
I bought a PC as a Christmas present for my son in Dec 2013 from ebuyer. In August 2014 it stopped working and i was told I had to send it back to the original manufacturer. The manufacturer wanted to charge me £60 to do this. i complained to ebuyer and they said I could send it back to them FOC and they would pass it on to the manufacturer. They did not provide packaging. I sent it back, it was 'lost' in the system for a month and when it was finally located, it was damaged so I was told the warranty was invalid and it has been sent back to me in a much worse state than before.Despite complaining, they are saying they won't do anything more because the item wasn't packaged correctly. Do I have any recourse? It cost nearly £500 so as you can imagine, I'm really upset about it.

As it was poorly packaged then not a lot you can do. If it was packaged properly you could have claimed from the courier.

But poorly packed and you will get the not our problem reply.

  • Was it one of their flimsy Zoostorms by any chance?

Not much you can do really if you know you sent it off with insufficient packaging, Ebuyer customer service is notoriously bad, seeing as they fobbed you off to the manufacturer confirms as much. By the sounds of it, Ebuyer sent their own courier to collect the machine so any damage is technically their responsibility.

If you paid by card give your bank or card company a call and see if they can help, Ebuyer hate chargebacks.
