Latest VCS GPEOL

Involved in my first POPLA appeal.
Receive the evidence pack from vcs on Monday, appeal date is set for this Monday coming.

Included is the latest statement which I saw someone a couple of weeks ago asking for. Therefore it's here:

    HI Martmonk,
That's an interesting concoction. Do you know when the evidence pack was received? Was it after the initial appeal letter to VCS, or at the popla stage?

But surely this can only apply where there is an initial loss.

Par for the course - about a week beforehand.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    What a nonsense document.

So, they are saying that if you paid at the first opportunity, it would have been £8 or whatever? What nonsense.
  • This document makes reference to IAS, rather than POPLA, although it might be referring to a more generic case of appeals under that name.

I seem to remember that VCS left the BPA to join the IPC, which uses IAS as its appeals forum.

In any case, I can't see how these figures constitute a pre-estimate of loss. Lots of fixed business costs which apply only in cases where there is no appeal, no recourse to an external assessor, etc. In fact, the vast majority of these figures are by definition post incident costs, and thus surely can't be pre-estimates.
  • The £27 cost of POPLA and the other associated appeal costs are supposed to be free to the motorist as part of the terms when POFA was enacted in 2012 in order to gain DVLA RK details.

I'm of the opinion that the true GPEOL is in the range of £15-£20, depending on the circumstances.

I think this figure needs stating either in the initial appeal or in the rebuttal to POPLA.

Quite simply, if their Genuine :rotfl: Pre-estimate of Loss for a £100 ticket is £124, how come they are still in business?

  • One wonders how the people who concoct this nonsense can live with themselves. People like whichever "accountant" (using the term loosely, as any real accountant would laugh at this) came up with such obviously fake, bogus information, and certain people we all know at PE, have no ethics whatsoever, and are quite prepared to lie and cheat to achieve their aims.

The sad thing is that so many organisations seem to have this kind of thing going on. Some people seem to get badly bit by the cognitive dissonance bug once they get their feet behind the desk.
