Backdating self-employed registration

Hi,
I registered self-employed as at the day after I got made redundant in July last year but wish to backdate it to 6th April 2013.
Can I do that on the SA submission or do I have to write?
There are no NI implications as I am below the profit threshold but I do want to declare the right 'pre-trading' SE income/expenses figures of which there were some (more income than exs in fact).
Thanks!

The convention is for "pre trading" expenditure to be included in your first year, dated on the first day of trading, regardless of the actual date of the transaction, so you don't need to change the official start date at all.0

You can do it on the SA. It will ask you for the start date of your business if you started after 5 April 2003.
But you can put the July date as well. You get tax relief for pre trading expenses, and I don't imagine that HMRC would object if you had some pre trading income in there as well.
If you have claimed exemption from Class 2 NICs for 2013/14, no one will care that much what your start date is.0 -
Thanks Pennywise and antrobus!
Just want to declare the right thing :-)0
