  • I was never given the option of having it paid direct to the taxi ? I was told I had to pay it upfront and claim it back ? I have gone with a local one who is a one man(woman) operator and I dont think she could or would wait for money to come back months later ?

Mine isn't paid direct to the taxi company, it is paid to me and then I pay the taxi company, but I had an account with the taxi co which they invoiced me for monthly. I filled in the claim form and had it signed by my manager and then sent it off the DWP to send me the payment direct to my bank account.

All the information DWP send out when you first get the AtW award suggests they will sort out payments within 10-15 days. Never have I had a payment processed that quickly.

When payments have been a month or more late, when you have 2 outstanding invoices for example, then I find myself worrying about it, and when I call for my taxi I am much more anxious and stressed that they are going to comment on the balance of the account, or simply refuse to send a taxi to collect me.

Not a good situation to be in when I already suffer from depression/stress/anxity anyway.

I know and very much appreciate that this is public money but iit should not mean that we are left high and dry by the DWP like this.
[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

  • I have always had to pay my taxi driver the time she takes me ? I dont think she would be willing to wait the length of time it takes me to be reimbursed ?
I would also be too scared they wouldnt take me again if I hadnt paid upfront ?
