Where is Stereo mix on a Sony Vaio VGN-Ar31M?

Asking this on behalf of a friend with a Sony Vaio VGN-Ar31M running Windows Vista home premium.
I know how to enable stereo mix on a desktop : Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar, and select Recording Devices.
There should be two choices; Microphone, and Line In.
Right click in the empty space below those two and select "Show Disabled Devices". You'll then be given a list of all the other input sources your sound card supports.
Scroll down to Stereo Mix, and right-click it. First, Enable it, then right-click again and select "Set as Default Device"....
But that doesn't apply to the Sony Vaio
Anyone got any ideas if it's possible, would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.
