Then enjoy the change.
Yay! Thanks for your post short and sweet but in the right direction. I came back from Sicily having spent more than budgeted so to come home with change is a bonus.
Shame its not euros and more easily spent elsewhere.Hi OP,
Ignore all the snide comments on here about trip adviser.
I love Prague - it is a lovely city, and can be as expensive as you want it to be.
There are little pizza places where you get a large pizza for around £5, or there are expensive restaurants where it could cost you £50 for a main course.
There is a cost of living website that suggests a mid tear meal for 2 would be CZK 600 (£17)
http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/city_result.jsp?country=Czech+Republic&city=Prague
It sounds a bit cheap to me.
A generally find main courses to range from 200CZK to 400CZK - so probably about the same as home.
This is my favourite restaurant in Prague (Only discovered it on my last trip)

.
With bars - again there is cheap ones and expensive ones, in some of the restaurants and bars I get charged over £5 for a glass of wine - in Rocky O'Reillys an Irish bar near the hotel I stayed in, it was less than £2.
As for tea - if its black tea with milk you are after, its hard to find!!
The cost of living website is useful but i'll bear in mind that its not quite accurate but gives me a good starting point.
I'm getting the impression that in general its a bit cheaper than at home, I remember when Spain was like that!
Oh noo glad you mentioned that I don't function at all well without a good cuppa to start off the day! I shall pack my own tea and UHT milk.
The restaurant looks nice and only round the corner from one of the hotels we are looking at. What were the prices like? (couldnt see them on the menu).0 -
I was there in Feb 2013 and found it cheap - excellent value in every way. You could get a pint of good local beer for around £1, and we had a good three course meal (on the castle side of the river) for around £7. As has been said, there are MUCH pricier places than the ones we went to, but these were still in the centre and not in the outskirts (where it's probably even cheaper).CharlieRabbit01 wrote: »

Should I expect to pay £5 for a beer or can I be pleased to only pay £2, will an average meal cost me £20pp or £50pp.
It's a fabulous city.0 -
The secret to Prague is to avoid everywhere on the main square. Go a street or two back and prices will be at least half.0

The prices are dearer than in other restaurants but it is in the main square so is more expensive - but has a great atmosphere, and is brilliant for people watching.
I think it is 300CZK for some specials, and includes a main course and a beer or wine.Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
Ermmmm so you are advising that they ignore this....
Utter genius!
My point is thus.
If someone asked me how much is it to eat in drink in London I would say the same.
How am I, or anyone apart from the OP, supposed to know what kind of food they want or what standard they expect.
I could be glib and say you can spend £20 each a day in prague if you want to eat at Mc Donalds etc etc. Instead i directed the OP to a list of restaurants in Prague therefore they can decided what kind of food they would like and know exactly how much its is rather than me, or anyone else, guessing.
You pointed them to a list of over 4000 restaurants, its a lot to filter through, OP isn't looking exact figures, it is not that difficult to help rather than tell people to search themselves, when you don't have a clue where to start.Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
i agree 4000+ restaurants is a lot to go through but you can filter them by preference for example if they wanted fine dining on a budget 2 clicks of a mouse gives you:
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g274707-d3622845-Reviews-Kafe_U_zelenych_kamen-Prague_Bohemia.html
the number 28th rated restaurant in prague, along with several others too, hell another couple of clicks takes you to their website and thus a price list too
its not that difficult really.
my way gives the OP options your way gives them an option, and that option is based on your personal preferenceLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
ok i take it all back.
heres OP let me help.
i have drunk/drank/drinked? and eaten at the propoganda pub in prague and because i have been there you should go there too, heres a review, assuming im allowed to use tripadvisor as im somewhat confused about its relevance:
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g274707-d1929344-Reviews-Propaganda_Pub-Prague_Bohemia.html
heres a chart of the last years trading in czh koruna
http://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=GBP&to=CZK&view=1Y
as you can see you get approx 10% more koruna than you did this time last year.
overall i found prague cheaper than london
sorted, everybody happy now?Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -

Yes. I wasn't having a go, it's just that some people on here take the attitude that they'd being greatly inconvenienced by having to answer a question so act rather snottily about it, when they had no obligation to reply at all.
I'm not saying you were that bad at all, it's just how it can come across!0 -
If you like beer I recommend this place: http://www.praguebeermuseum.com/
It's actually a bar rather than a museum.0
