Shop Direct Finance Ltd - Odd Search on Credit File

I am looking to apply for a Mortgage soon, and thought I would look at my Credit Reports from Experian, Equinox, and Call Credit to see if they were OK. A number of issues came up:
1. I have a CCJ; see separate thread about this, I'm working on it!
2. Equifax were linking someone with a similar name and DOB, who had moved into a property I used to live in, to their credit file on me. This has now been removed.
3. A smaller issue - there was a credit search recorded by Shop Direct Finance Ltd a couple of months ago, at an old address I used to live at. It seems to have my name on it, and Equinox list the search type as 'Opt In'.

I'm interested in this credit search, as I am unclear as to how it's come about - it looks like Shop Direct Finance Ltd are a retail group, and I haven't bought anything from them, nor have I applied for any credit with them.

Has anyone else had similar? Is it work going through some sort of process getting this removed, or adding a notice of correction? What are people's thoughts?

In terms of a mortgage application this one search on your file will make no difference.

Is it listed as a credit application search on your credit file?

Hi Tixy - it is, yes. The columns on Equifax are my name, the date (17/04/2014), Search Reason as Credit Search, the name of the company as Shop Direct Finance Ltd, then the Search Type as Opt In.
