Router bit for cutting rebate to take intumescent strips ON DOOR

Hi guys

I am soon buying fire doors to go in my existing door linings.

Hence I will be routing the doors themselves to take the intumescent strips.

Having never done this before, what bit do I use (I have a router that takes quarter and half inch shank) and how?

Thankyou

One of these is your easiest option:

Or use a 10/15mm bit and a fence to guide you up the centre of the edge - trickier but cheaper!

    Thanks

I assume you use the router on the face of the door (Door flat on a table or something) and the guide on that router bit along the edge of the door, then the cutter makes the rebate - correct?

Correct~: only setup you need is to set the depth on the router to centralise the cut in the edge of the door.
