Hi all,
My flat which is rented is starting to become problematic.
the item in the picture below which I think is refered to as fuse or timer is still working but the display is dead.
do they have a battery which needs replacing , does anyone know?
the flat I own is 400 miles away and getting someone to look at it is £60 minimum of £300 to replace for what I think it £20 job and can do it my self by cutting supply , unscrew it and then swap the device or simply change the battery if they have one .
please advice

Not seen one of those before but I did a quick search for 'Greenbrook consumer unit timer' and got lots of useful hits. You might get info about a battery there. Assuming that these just plug in, wouldn't it be a case of buying a new one and asking the renter to turn off the main circuit breaker and replace it? If they don't agree, then that's just the sort of problem you'll have renting out at such a distance.0

Call in an electrician asking non competent persons to do the work is an absolute idiotic thing to do apart from voiding your insurance/ risk of electrocution, fire etc replacing would be labour no more than £30 – £50 plus cost of the part £ 15 - £20 there are no user serviceable parts in these0

Perhaps it just needs resetting?

Also note the following (from the above instructions):Installation
Not suitable for mounting in distribution boards / Consumer units as Timer requires good ventilation.0 -

If the mains has been off for longer than the battery backup can supply, when power is restored it will need time to recharge the battery.
When the display shows all symbols, as yours does, the reset button needs to be pressed and the timer reprogrammed as explained here. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
