Mums Laptop will not turn on

Hiya all,

Asking on behalf of my mum, her Dell laptop is not powering up at all

I have tried to disconnect the battery and hold power button in for 30 secs etc and tried a different battery in there but that did not help

I am starting to think her laptop may have had it but thought I would check there is not something obvious I have not tried

Thanks in advance for any help

Have you tried it with the mains lead in?
If it still doesnt work with mains lead in it could be the power switch or Motherboard.
But with luck Nifty be along soon as he will know whats wrong.
  • Hiya

    Yeah have tried that

The power charging light is on so its obviously reading the fact the charger is plugged into it but not getting anything at all when trying to turn it on, not even fans etc

Have you tried taking the battery out THEN connecting the mains lead and powering this on THEN pressing the button on the laptop to turn it on?

I have an ancient laptop which works on mains but only if the battery is not in the machine.
