Switching question - 3-phase system?
Hi there all....hope someone can help
EON is our dual fuel supplier atm. I tried to switch to a cheaper deal some time ago, finding a deal with Scottish Power. All was progressing well - when halfway through the switch I had a letter from SP cancelling. When I asked why, I was told it was because we had - I think - a 3-phase system. What we have are 4 electric meters in the cellar, 3 of these were used for an outside power supply & are never used - the readings never vary on 3 of them, with all our domestic power recording on just one meter. I asked EON if they had a cheaper deal - answer NO. Could the meters be removed also NO.
I really want to switch to a cheaper deal - currently £285 per month :eek::eek: - but don't know if any other supplier will take me or if the same will happen. Does anyone know please??
BTW have heard from EON recently - saying we are paying too much (Doh!) and also saying the payment will reduce slightly...
TIA if you can help

Be interested to know what an electrician on here says about this as i'm surprised that a residential(?) property has a 3-phase supply and you seem surprised about it.
I also suspect it can be changed but there is likely to be a cost involved with getting rid of the other meters if no longer required.
If they exist i assume someones paying standing charges for them even if they are consuming "nothing"?0 -
Sounds like you have a single phase supply for the house and a polyphase for the old outside supply.
A polyphase supply generally only has one meter these days but 3 are possible.
It really depends on the no of mpans you have (2 if the above is correct but I have seen nasty sites on with multiple meters on 1 mpan that really should not be).
You really need to get the OS supply removed if it is no longer used. it probably will cost though.0
