Another DLA to PIP question

Hi, I'm currently on DLA hrm and mrc. I have an award for an I definate period.
I know I'm going to be 'invited' to apply for PIP soon, ( by October 2015 I believe) but I wondered...
When I apply what will happen with my DLA award whilst they make their minds up? I've heard of people waiting months for a decision to be made, will I still get my DLA?

I'm hoping you knowledgable people can help :D

  • That's an indefinite period, not I definate(!)

You'll get DLA until they make a decision; as long as you filled the forms in and returned them on time.

It is meant to be October 2015. I wouldn't be that surprised if it was nearer October 2016.

All existing DLA claimants (aged 16 to 64 on 8 April 2013) will have been
    invited to claim PIP.

    We shall see...

The most recent statistics show they are nowhere close.
They would need to (from memory) more than double the assessment rate reported in September in order to keep up with promises.

when i rang up to see if dla award had been done they told me that pip would be nearer to 2020. phew i thought.
  • I think my DLA claim runs out August 2015. I'm totally confused by the whole DLA/PIP thing.

Haven't got a clue whether you wait until your claim runs out before applying for PIP or I will just receive a letter.

you apply for PIP when they 'onvite' ypu tp.
in many areas, though not all, they are reassessing DLA claims that have 'run out' with PIP
  • Thank you for that info. So my in definate period should really run now til AT LEAST October 2015, but likely to go on until maybe even 2020?
Also, if for example, they invite me to apply for pip in 2015, as per their timescales, how long is it currently taking them to assess people?
It's good news that I'll stay on my DLA whilst they do.
My main reason for asking is my motability car lease runs out in march 2015, and I'm not sure wether or not to get another car,or just use the money to buy something in case I lose my benefit.

Thank you all for the valuable input.
