Parking Eye

Hi.
I wonder if anyone can advise?
In June 2013 I overstayed on my parking ticket by 2 minutes and was contacted by parking eye with a fine of £65. I was in the middle of moving (because of an abusive relationship) and the fine was the last thing on my mind.
I have just received another letter at my new address stating that PE have issued a CCJ and the fine needed to 'satisfy' this is now £165. However, there is no evidence of the CCJ on my credit record.
I should have been more careful, but feel the fine is disproportionate. I'm not sure how to proceed and would welcome any advice.
Thank-you in anticipation.

First-up - THIS IS NOT A FINE!
Second - You need to read the Newbies Sticky at the top of this forum carefully. This outlines your situation and the various options to see them-off.

A few people have reported getting that letter. It IS likely that they have won in Court as you didn't bother to appeal. Maybe a different credit check firm would show it.Hi.

Paying PE £165 doesn't REMOVE the CCJ, as the letter says, it just marks it 'satisfied which still leaves the CCJ there on your record for 6 years.
Your other alternative is to pay the court £155 to apply to get the judgment 'set aside' but you'd need to do a fair bit of reading on how to defend these sort of cases properly. You'd need to convince a Judge that you have good prospects of successfully defending the case at a hearing and show that you never got the Court papers.
Start by reading this:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=64350600&postcount=5
...which was already in the sticky FAQs thread for 'Newbies to read first' (2nd from the top of the forum) so I assume you've seen it already before posting.
So then search the forum for 'set aside'. I would consider getting it set aside if I were you as long as you can spend a fair bit of time researching what you should have done earlier when you got the fake PCN. The sad thing is, it would have been soooo easy to win at POPLA appeal if only you hadn't ignored it. Lots of people each week do that v ParkingEye; some posters here know, as we check the Court case lists.
However, getting it set aside does NOT end the matter of course, as I said - you'd then need to defend it properly.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
