Boo to being called dear, so patronising :(

I hate it when I get called love, makes me feel old. One of my friends calls everyone darling, maybe this is the way forward :)

Glad Miss J is comfortable xx

The problem is I dont feel like that sadly xx

Fake it 'til you make it Beanie. You might not believe it when you start saying these things but say them often enough and they become your truth. This is how our self beliefs form in the first place. We're told or say things to ourselves often enough. Make yourself some new ones :)

    What's to lose?

This is about being called "dear". Depending on who it is, I sometimes get absolutely furious about this :o I try not to, because they win ... sometimes, I wonder about borrowing a tactic I've heard of when someone says something objectionable, mostly racist, but it could be adapted for this. Keep asking them about it! "I didn't know I was in a relationship with you". "I don't think I know you". "Are you sure you mean me". "I didn't know you felt such affection for me". "Do you feel such affection for everyone you meet".

:D I don't think I could actually do it, mind you, I think I'd break into the political, but I'd really like to try :D

DH called me "dear" on our 2nd date...

He never, ever tried it again. ;)

If anyone calls me it now I reply with, "no, I'm cheap but pack a punch...normally aimed at those who call me dear". (Unless it's a little old lady, then I'll let them get away with it)

Hi Beanie, hope you're having a nice Saturday and Miss J is still doing OK.

Don't think I've every been called dear but being from where I am 'love' tagged on to the end of every sentence whether you've just been born or in your 90's is pretty standard so doesn't bother me in the slightest ;) I had a great aunt from down south who called everybody duckie and an uncle who calls everybody sweetie. TBH I'd take any of those over 'hun' :o :rotfl: xx

My MIL used to call everyone duckie. My Glaswegian adopted granny used to call me hen, she kept hens so as a child this was very confusing :) The worst of all I think is babe - just awful :(
