Today has been a sad day in some ways.
I have been involved in a charity close to my heart for nearly 20 years.
As we have no further funding it is time to close the doors and say goodbye.
So today we have cleared the office of most of the paperwork that I need to keep & the accounts for the last seven years.
A little part of me is relieved but I am sad too.
The staff are redundant from the end of next week :(:(:(
I am mentally & physically exhausted and my spare room looks like a total dumping ground.
    Which it currently is.
The end of an era indeed.

You served them well, you serve everyone well Beanie.
It is very sad but you sound like you deserve a rest.
Make sure you don't pack the room so full you can't close the door

Sad day for you but beginning of a new era where you can take some time for yourself. Hopefully the staff will get jobs quickly.

    Thanks Milann.
Still quite a lot of paperwork to tie up and invoices to chase up.

Hope the staff do get jobs really soon.

    Progress not Perfection
  • Sometimes the best thing for a charity is to cease. The good intentions only carry things so far and I have seen voluntary board members end up in a nightmare place due to lack of understanding of their responsibilities or conditions of grant aid, etc. It’s sad but hopefully this will reduce your stress levels
