I have been told you need to have acidic wee to avoid infection. My wee is too acidic after doing a ph test, however I never have any infections and my mothers is highly alkaline and needs being more acidic, however she is careful not to get infection either. Just a thought...you can check your wee ph with a dipstick you can buy in amazXX.

Is the acidic thing why they recommend drinking cranberry juice as it actually starts in the stomach not the bladder.

Sorry to hear about the UTI. Thank goodness you got your Mr S shop done yesterday, at least you won't have to go out if you don't feel up to it. I can remember MIL drinking cranberry juice to ward off UTIs as she was prone to them.

    Ugh …. Nothing worse. Sympathies.

I developed interstitial cystitis a while back and did the local HRT application on top of tablet HRT and it helped for a while, then dwindled off and caused other problems. But the biggest thing that has helped has been a specific probiotic specifically formulated for women. I know it sounds hokey, and it’s not cheap, but I have not had an infection nor all the other miserable symptoms of interstitial cystitis since - c. 18 months or so now?
