New carpet fund sounds lovely Beanie - its good to have something nice to aim for. I know paying the mortgage is important to you but something new to you which changes your environment to make you feel brighter will keep you going on the longer harder mortgage challenge.

Its surprising how much better a good old declutter can make you feel too - you sound much more upbeat ;)

  • Hello Beanie, I'm wondering what colour carpet you are going for. Mine is a gentle green which I find very restful. I'm a big fan of green and cream colour schemes which DD finds a little old fashioned but hey!! I'm planning to refresh the paint in my house this year but am going to take it slowly and steadily. I am plodding along through the winter months.

    Take care Beanie!
With family, friends and pets (or any combination of them) life will be fine!

Hi Beanie - I recently did a very cheap makeover of my bedroom - I got rid of the old carpet - cleaned and painted the floor boards white (took three coats of satin wood paint ) and painted the old pine furniture white too - I have wall papered one feature wall in a contrasting pattern/colour and bought new (cheap) bedding and very cheap rugs - the whole makeover cost under 100 pound but it did take quite a lot of my time- painted floor board aren't for every one so may not suit your taste but it does look very shabby chic and very clean -I love it - good luck with whatever colour scheme you decide on :)

Sadly I dont have floorboards as my house is only about 25 years old as that would have been perfect.
The decluttering continues & is physically & very emotionally draining.
Needed to be done & should have been done years ago.
    The BT saga rolls on.

  • If it has waited years, it can wait to be progressed at a rate that doesn't leave you exhausted. Just aim for one or two things a day.

No, I have to do it while I am in the mood to do it otherwise it will be left half done.
It makes sense to me :)

I know what you mean Beannie about getting it done when you are in the mood - I just can't get in the mood to do any room and they all need doing - its just so overwhelming isn't it? So well done fpr getting going

I have a sort of dove grey colour scheme in my bedroom. I have fitted wardrobes with sort of grey smoked glass panels in them! Pale grey carpet and walls - I got bedding which was an amazing bargain from a very expensive bedding shop outlet and it is gorgeous (like a greyish flowery print)- the problem is I only got one set so have to wash and dry it in one day to reuse it and I love it so don't want to back to my plain grey one (it reminds me of my ex too!)

Anyway onwards and upwards Beannie - soon be spring!!!! Keep plodding!

I wonder if once you get to that stage Beanie you would like a little help from your friends.
