My kindle is dying which is not the best as I use it a lot.
It keeps needing charged & needing force started.
I have looked at them on the river shop but I am cofuddled.
Ordinary, paperwhite, oasis........!!
Any thoughts?

Kindles from when I've been  looking:

Ordinary: does everything a paperwhite from 10 years ago does (ie has the frontlight). Not waterproof. 

Paperwhite: has a bit more storage available. Waterproof. Slightly bigger screen, slightly faster. Audible integration. Longer battery life (longest of the lot). Has a fancy more expensive version too that gives you wireless charging, more storage, automatic brightness adjustment.

Both the basic paperwhite and basic kindle have an ad-version and a no-ad version that are about £10 apart in price.

Oasis: Has the fancy bits the paperwhite does (waterproof, audible), but a bigger screen, is more waterproof, warm light (reduced blue light for your eyes), less battery life than the paperwhite (because it uses more power). Doesn't have a headphone jack so if you want to listen to Audible you'll need wireless headphones ( this is also true of the paperwhite).

Scribe: you can add notes to things, so probably only worth it if you want or need to do that.

I think it depends on what you want/need - waterproof, warm light instead of blue etc.

Which one have you got?  I went for the ordinary one when I needed to replace my old keyboard one.  It's fine and I'm happy with it, but I do miss the page turn buttons I used to have.  I can access audible through it but it doesn't have a headphone jack so you need bluetooth headphones.  It is small which is great for carrying around but I often use the kindle app on my ipad when I'm at home for the bigger screen.

If you are considering that option and would want to buy a cover etc, check out the kids versions.  It's exactly the same, and can work out cheaper (and you get extra no quibble guarantee).
