  • Thanks everyone I sometimes wonder if I witter on too much! All cats bring their own memories for different reasone but Ollie really was the cat of my heart.
The area dds bf works in is a trust a long way from here. I've just been watching the NW news and it's near the highest rate of cases in the UK now so not a place to travel to when you've been allowed to work from home to protect the vulnerable. He's not trying to jump queues and is happy to pay for his shot. He's such a good soul and has willingly taken dd into his home to protect her mental wellbeing. She's better with the cats. No cats here at the moment. He's a really good musician and will get a guitar out , make up a silly song and make her laugh. I honestly think although he had a big long awaited promotion to finally do the work he loved he'd resign before he'd do that journey.
I love Aberfoyle beanie we used to walk down from Milton to the village and spend time there. I've never seen so much wool under one roof as I did in the scottish wool centre. They sold so many things. Last time I was there they had half price room sprays by Arran Aromatics. I bought Fern and it's Scotland in a bottle. Eldest dd moved to Yorkshire and I was sorry I hadn't bought mre of the Fern sprays. I scoured online but they'd stopped doing Fern. One sniff and it was fern, heather and all the scents we smelled walking up towards the Trossachs. I have a few inches left in the bottle . All these years on it hasn't lost that smell. I have a little sniff every now and then and I'm back there with clear starlit skies , no light pollution and big skies.
I've always regretted not moving to Scotland but we wouldn't have had Superdoc fighting youngests corner over the years if I had.
I loved Edinburgh and Glasgow . No idea if it's still there but there was a brilliant bookshop on Princes St that sold books really cheaply . I discovered Scottish writers I'd never heard of and read all the autobiographical books by Christine Marion Fraser and others.
Only two negative experiences over the years. Eldest taking a short cut with us through the Cowgate as we looked for Greyfriars Bobbys statue. Drunks everywhere one of whom just missed throwing up on my feet- wearing sandals- as I moved to the right pretty  sharpish . The other was on the way into Glasgow we stopped at a Tesco to pick up some stuff. Rather than come in with me dd locked the car doors which seemed a bit odd. I asked if she wasn't coming in and she replied I'll stay with the car which seemed a bit odd. Once I was inside two different people with loaded trolleys came running towards me with security running behind them and rushed out of the shop. I left my trolley grabbed the nearest thing paid and make a quick exit. Never ever do that to me again I said. It turned out Tesco was in an infamous area and what I'd seen was par for the course constant shop lifting.
Night all lets hope for better days to come and a proper spring for us all.
