I think it is fair to say that the recent events have taken the shine off things for them & had they not been so far along in the process they may well have changed their minds but it is as it is.

I am increasingly worried about my mum. 

She is in a risk category although she would never admit it.  and it much nearer 80 than 70. She will not deal well with social isolation never mind any thing else.

It will be very tough for the older generation who are vulnerable and unable to leave the house. A lot of them are used to going out every day. Hopefully it won’t be for too long. All you can do is support your mum as much as you can.

At lot of people won't deal well with social isolation but hundreds of thousands of people will be in the same boat. Over 70s and at risk groups make up a large number of the population who could all be told to self isolate in a few weeks . It's for their own safety but it won't be easy for them.

Is your Mum on social media as at least that will give people some social contact? Will she be able to get online food/medication deliveries? Or could DS help out with food deliveries?

Hi Beanie Great news about your DS and GF, there's something very exciting about buying your very own first property. 

I wondered how long it would be before people started thinking about pet food as well as pasta and loo roll. Making sure they've got food is also a priority though. I can eat beans on toast but the dogs can't. Well they would but then I'd need disinfectant and wipes and there are none to be had 

I feel sorry for the over 70's having to self isolate if it happens. Plenty of them are generally fit and healthy and have more of a social life than the younger generation. It's going to be very hard on them although I've no idea how it's going to be enforced. Sheer compliance maybe? Interesting and difficult times ahead of us that's for sure.

My mum still works part time & has an amazing social life. She is own her own though & has no cat now 😿
I suppose the one good thing is that she will at least have time to get used to the idea. She does use social media but has never ordered food online only 🍷!!

I’m pleased you’ve got a bit of extra food for your fur babies. You would worry otherwise.
Fantastic news about your ds and gf - although I can appreciate the current situation has taken the edge off it.
