I really felt for all those children. They were hungry, cold, aware of things no child should even be thinking about, dealing with the effects of adults with mental health issues and on top of that going to school. What a life xx xx
Going to school may be the best thing for some children. Infants anyway as they get a free lunch and the staff are really caring at my school. They don't just teach the children maths and english they also teach them social skills, boundaries and how to cope with their feelings. They also get attention and affection from staff that they may lack at home. Until I worked in a school I had no idea how much the staff did for the children. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Sadly in my work I see some very hard up families and I wish we could do more for them. Our local food bank had to ask for urgent donations because of the demand it is under.
My employers encourage staff to donate , we have a big green bin that is filled up and taken there .
We make sandwiches in the six week holidays so children can get some lunch when they aren't at school to help out families . It is unbelievable in this day and age .
I hope your stress is less today Beanie .Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.1

I agree HHD. But the girl sitting her GCSE's who was having to revise on her bed in a room where her family were living and eating - it was a bedsit - broke my heart. And it's obvious from what they were saying that even at school they sit worrying about what's happening back at home. But yes, at least they are warm, fed and with their friends. xx1

Yes I know some children are anxious about what happens at home and this can cause them to act out at school. It's very sad that such poverty exists. We have a few children at school with broken shoes and clothes that aren't warm enough and I do feel sorry for them . But they do seem to like being at school at least.
