take the meat out of any bulky packaging, and put them in freezer bags or clingfilm instead. then freeze them.
use frozen cans of beer/coke/etc in addition to a few ice packs. infinitely more useful.
i took a large cool box to glasto full of frozen meat and cans of strongbow. the meat was still ok three days later (we took enough to last us two days, and then breakfast on the third morning) the cans of cider were still quite chilly (although we had to rinse the defrosted meat juices off the cans at the bottom)
