Hi,

it's that time of year again, whilst shopping around for breakdown cover I came across the above company who offers a good price for services offered.

there is thread on here where they are mentioned but no mention of service level or reliability.

If anyone has experience with them, please can you share (good or bad)?

thanks in advance

alex

Never heard of them, but after a quick google it looks like they're still more expensive than Autoaid - £39.90 per year covers you and your spouse in any vehicle. Plenty of threads on here about them - highly recommended.

The only "downside", in some people's view, is that it's a "pay and reclaim" service - you pay the recovery firm, Autoaid then reimburse you. But if you have a credit card it's no problem at all, and for the price I don't think anyone else comes close.

Thanks Ebe, I don't have any problem with pay and reclaim service, I've had a look and it does look good value. Seriously considering.

I've not used them but they seem to link themselves with providing insurance to particular make owners clubs, eg Volvo, Nissan, etc.

I use them for motor insurance but not breakdown. They specialise in modified cars.

My experience with them so far has been first rate.
  • As others have implied, Chris Knott is a broker not an insurer. The breakdown cover they sell, as a standalone policy anyway, is branded Silver Knight Rescue and underwritten by AmTrust.

You'll probably get more hits by googling for reviews of the product name or insurer than a broker that is selling it

We're with AXA breakdown cover - never had to call them, but had a few dealings with them when changing the address, the vehicle and renewing and to date had a very pleasant experience... they reply to emails very fast indeed, no [press 1 for x; 2 for y] !!!! when phoning them and more importantly their renewal quote was EXACTLY the same as my previous year policy price - whereas most try to fleece you by upping the premium come autorenew.
