Mini meltdown and light bulb moment

Ah, we caved and took out the large value box sets from the DVDs to send off, one set of blue rays is currently selling on play for £75, and we have another complete set of 8 seasons worth of tv show which took me a while to source, and cost us well over £200. So I've listed those on pre loved, gumtree and the Facebook selling site for a set price, as to get less than £20 for the both of them is too painful. We must have already got rid of around at least £500 worth of stuff (that we dont use or need anymore).
we'll review it again if they don't sell.
We met the landlord of the new flat this afternoon, lovely guy, he's arranging for it to be redecorated throughout before we move in. The kind of landlord I like! :T0 -
You're doing well Mrs T!
How is the house clearing going? Are you ready for your big move? I can't wait to be in that position as OH is getting seriously ticked off with our internet.
Keep going, you are doing great!

Hi October, we've not done a lot so far, we are both off work for the whole weekend this weekend with no plans, so we will be spending the weekend clearing and packing. We have to do the majority of it as we don't have another weekend where we're both off for the two full days until we actually move!!!
I paid the cheque in today from the first lot of DVDs we sent off to we buy book's, £41 ish (need to check exact figure), the £23 one from zapper has been dispatched, and just waiting on the music magpie money being paid directly in to my account.
The second MM box was collected today so that's another £10, and two more boxes to send off tomorrow to get cheques for.
Hopefully this weekend we will unearth more belongings that we can sell.
My sister has just called me to say her husband has collected the old sofa from his parents, they are having two brand new sofas even though theirs gave hardly been used, and they've given us one of the old ones, which is lovely considering we're now moving so it will fit better. BIL will store it at their house then deliver it to the new place when we move in :T
I don't know if I ever said, but my parents got approved to be foster carers shortly before Christmas. Not long ago they were asked to look after a child for a few days whilst the current carers were unwell and needed a break, and once the child had gone home the current carers realised they weren't meeting the child's needs and my mum and dad were asked if they would have them back on a long term placement to prepare the siblings for being adopted separately.
The child moved in with them yesterday and as OH and I were away last time child C stayed, we didn't get to meet, so today we called round to meet them.
I am so immensely proud of mum and dad for finally applying for fostering, they've always wanted to do it but it was never the right time with me and my sister around.
Now they have the space and time to give the children the full love and attention they deserve, and I honestly couldn't be happier for them.
It's already clear that child C will really benefit from being with them, and they are so brilliant at it already.
I nearly spilled a few tears when OH and I called to Mr A's for some food shopping after leaving the house. I'm so proud to be able to have such wonderful parents:A

Awww it is so nice to hear about your parents. I know my mum considered fostering for a long time but she is too old now
. She did a good job with me and I think she would have been brilliant.
Glad the moving is coming along. How did you get on this weekend? It's nice to get some money coming in from the things you don't want and really good news on the sofa!! My DA was always like that with her furniture and anything else really!
Keep going and you will soon be settled in your nice new home :j

Hi everyone,
I've really not done a full post for some time, I'm sorry about that. Been busy with sorting out for moving etc.
We get the keys for the new house on Good Friday and then have to hand our keys back the following Thursday, which gives us nearly a week to shift everything and clean. My BIL has asked permission to use his work van to move the bigger items on Saturday, and my dad will help, although they can't really help too much as they now have child C with them. OH's parents are coming down on Friday to help us, not sure where they will stay yet, probably in the new house on the blow up mattress until we move the rest of the items over during the weekend.
Moneywise, we're doing... ok.
I have received £138.66 from zapper, ziffit and we buy books. (although one cheque for webuybooks has not been paid in yet as it arrived yesterday)
I am STILL waiting for the first payment from music magpie, which is less than they quoted as some of the items were 'not present or not to standard' which is absolute BILLSHUT because they were all the same condition as the other batches I sent out, and the other companies managed to A) actually process the CORRECTLY QUOTED payment, andIt didnt take nearly 5 weeks!!
I would NEVER use music magpie again. I have £50 waiting to come from them, but by the time they've finished their procrastinating/processing, I'll get paid some time in August at this rate. The other three I cannot fault at all, and would definitely use them again.:mad:
Anyway, so I still have £50 on its way from there, and the landlord of our current property is inevitably not returning our deposit until we hand over the keys, and is deducting the 9 days rent from the deposit so we will only get back £356 instead of £500, AFTER we've needed to pay and move in, but whatever.
We are actually really not happy with them, for saying they are supposed to be family friends, they are insisting on us paying them the extra rent for the days before we hand the keys in, and aren't giving us any extra money for the loft boarding, or the new carpet, or the new bathroom flooring, or the garden landscaping etc etc, so we are about £700 out of pocket. I know it was our choice to do the work, and the landlord said 'do what you want, we see it being your house for as long as you like' when we first moved in, it was NOT our choice to move out, and we're getting screwed over now.
Well, whatever. The landlords brother didnt want to buy the shelves or the curtain rail or the blackout blinds from us, so we're taking them all with us, and they can deal with the holes in the wall because I am sure as hell not paying to fill holes and paint because they were just hoping we'd leave the shelves anyway.
On the positive side, OH's parents have gifted us £250 which my OH has paid in, so we have that towards the moving in costs, I have moved £100 over from car tax savings, plus the money that has been going in from the cheques, so I have an additional £238 (when the webuybooks cheque clears - plus the £50 that I may never get from MusicMagpie), so we just need to 'find' £500 each, between now and Tuesday.:eek::eek: Obviously we will get paid, so I will just pay OH the £500 rent that I would usually pay, plus the £238 that I already have saved, then we'll just have to scrape by until the music magpie cheque and the deposit money come back to us, which we will then split 50/50 for the other bills.
We are hoping that we end up skipping a month for C Tax, gas, water elec etc with moving, and try and make it up next month, if not we are well and truly NOT able to afford it!
I have someone collecting an item this afternoon that I listed for sale on FBook, but its only £10, then another lady insisted she wanted our old sofa, but she's not been back in touch so I'm relisting it. I have other bits and bobs on Fbook that I'm just going to re-list. I am getting NOWHERE with selling my wedding dress, I'm getting so frustrated with it now.
Also, I will only get £952 wages this month, as I had a sickness absence day, as well as my hospital day on a Friday, so the month where I need as much money as possible, I was sick, but I really couldnt have been at work.
ALSO---- another thing that has absolutely infuriated my OH, we got a letter from the post office who our phone line is with saying that 'we hear you are moving, and your line is being taken over by the new occupier. Please call us as soon as possible so that we can send you your final bill. Here is a list of services that we will no longer be providing for you'.
So the new occupiers have CANCELLED our phone line account, and taken over our line!!!! Granted we don't use the landline, but we now have to pay to take our existing number with us because they've requested to take over the line!!! The number we have now is the number that the hospital have for me as my home number. I don't know whether to just let them give us a new number (which we can't use until 14th April when the line transfers because our current one has been taken over :mad::mad:) and update the hospital with the new number when I give them the new address.
I just can't wait to get out of this house now, they've really made things harder than they needed to be, I could have caused them a lot of problems about the way they've gone about things (not giving us the correct legal notice to vacate, not registering our tenancy deposit, not notifying the mortgage company the property is tenanted) but I'm not like that so I wouldn't do that to them, plus its not really the landlord's fault that his brother has gone crying to his parents about not being able to afford where they are, and his mum and dad have forced his brother to let him move into the house (i assume for very cheap).
The debt repayments are going down in the right direction, I now owe less than £7000, (meaning i've only paid off £500 or so since my LBM in November) but I just keep thinking, at least the balances don't increase anymore.
I do still keep getting infuriating letters from H.fax and NatWide though, confirming I'm in arrears and there is a default marked etc, HFax are saying they have agreed a repayment plan and need the payments by 11th of the month, they must know that Stepchange dont send payments to creditors until 25th of the month, as they have recommended stepchange for debt support at the bottom of their letters!
I am now seriously considering a DRO, my credit rating is shot anyway, and if it means the debts get wiped off then so be it. Need to look into this a bit more.
Reading back, this seems like quite an angry post, sorry about that! I think it's the stress of moving and all the messing about we've had.
I just feel like i'm well and truly back to square one, still have no money in my account, still have £0 savings, ok the monthly payments are more affordable, but not so now the rent is having to go up!!!
On the plus side, we get a £6 refund on the contents insurance..... swings and roundabouts I guess.:rotfl:
EDIT: it's actually £812 to find between us, so only £406 each, not £500 PHEW. Miscalculated.0
