So is the consensus that this DPF may well need to be replaced?

Because frankly if it does, and costs £2500, then the car will be going to the scrapyard.

Take it to an independant, pay about £35 (or my local indy will do this for a packet of biscuits), get the codes read and make your judgement from there.

There are other alternatives to a new dpf.

Some companies will clean them for about 10% of the new dpf price.

Removing and filling with thinners, leaving overnight and jetwashing out will clear it, although most cars will want to a do a dpf regen immediately afterwards, and I am unsure how this would work on a mazda requiring the extra fluid.

Top tip about filling the tank every time to avoid high usage of the fluid there Harveybobbles...

I'm waiting on the new ads to replace the PPI ones.

Agree, you can see this one coming.

You might be lucky and it just needs a regen, 20 minutes above 2000 revs.

Although at that mileage it could be costly.

What length and type of trips have you been doing?

Is there any reason Mazda can't just put a filler cap on the storage tank so owners could top their own up? It seems to work for all the other fluids in the car... except, perhaps, battery acid.

OH needs it to get to work so it's going to be a real pain if so.

No need to get ripped off!

    1L here

    or

This Eolys tank refilling seems to be a real PITA.

More so that other 'snake-oil' additive systems.

At least the Ad-Blue system has a filler cap usually beside the fuel cap so the owner can fill up easily.

It's crazy how many reviews of city-cars on sites like Carbuyer complain about the lack of a diesel option. Surely a DPF in a car designed simply for pottering around town would clog repeatedly in very short order.

There was a nearly new diesel Corsa on here last month already having problems.

I think software is also needed to reset the levels.
