This is a weird one and I am not sure if its something I should be unhappy about or not.
I phone the Barclaycard call centre about a minor matter and I could hear quite clearly the conversation being had by the call centre operator who must be sat next to the one I was dealing with. It appears the person they were speaking to had lost their card and were going through security questions.
Obviously there is nothing I could do with this data but it just seems to me wrong that I can overheard another customers call.
I would feel uncomfortable phoning them in the future!

It may be something as simple as your operator having their headset on the side of the person in the cubicle next them. I dont think its too much to worry about really.Dont rock the boat

You can ask to be put through to someone in a quiet area.
I'm partially deaf in one ear which means if theres a loud noise and someone is speaking to me, the only thing I can hear is the loud noise, and abolutely nothing from the person speaking, almost as though my brain just won't let that sound wave be registered.
Call centres are the worst for this for me, as all I can hear is the background noise of other calls going on so I ask to be transferred to someone in a quiet area as I have hearing difficulties, it does work in most places.0 -
Surely unless you can hear the other person's responses to the security questions there's no issue?0

I heard her surname and postcode. I also know she lost her card while on holiday. I accept there is little I can do with this information I just don't like the fact I can hear it!
If you were a scammer, there is probably quite a lot you could do.
Imagine phoning her up. (with her surname and postcode you might well find her number in the phone book)
"Hello, could I speak to Mrs XXX.
My name is JReacher and I'm calling from Barclaycard in relation to the card you lost whilst on holiday.
Before I proceed, I will just have to go through our security procedure.
Could you please give me your date of birth and your mother's maiden name." (you could easily ask for other personal information which could help with future identity theft).
If the woman concerned is internet/telephone security savvy then they might not fall for it, but if not?0 -

If you know the name and postcode, then a quick trawl through the Phone Book - or other public records - should reveal the full address. You also know they are on holiday, so there won't be anybody at home if you decide to break in and steal all their stuff. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
