Mobile Phone Insurance

I am about to get myself a new mobile, but am loathe to pay Vodaphone for their insurance (£7.99 a month!). I have had a mobile for years and never had to make a claim (touch wood) but am reluctant to not get insurance and tempt fate.

Does anyone know of any companies (other than through a home insurance policy) which offer reiliable insurance? I have had a look at https://www.cusc.co.uk and to be honest the website looks a bit ropey and some of the reviews I have read on the web look a bit suspect (one reviewer claims that they will not pay out for theft unless there is a direct threat of violance - ie not if you get pick pocketed).

Any ideas would be appreciated.

    I pay £4 a month for my mobile insurance through Barclays, there's also a few other things included in that aswell. You just need to have a Barclays current account. Seems decent value to me. The website says you should be a school leaver but it wasn't true when I phoned up. Take a look:

    How valuable is the phone? Mine are always cheap, so I don't bother. A replacement SIM would cost a few quid, and there is the potential cost of unauthorised calls before you report it and it's blocked, but spending more on the insurance than the contract doesn't make much sense to me.

    Mrs V now has her new fone & I've just posted a similar Q in Mobiles forum.

    As mentioned there, some of the banks were offering free/inclusive cover if you opened an account with them. Can't recall which ones though!

  • I'm also looking for mobile phone insurance - not just to insure the phone but to insure against unauthorised calls should it be stolen.

    My household policy does not cover the above.

    I was wondering if anyone can give me any advice about this this insurance company that is covering his mobile phone;
    About a month ago, his mobile was stolen realising that he had lost his phone ithe next day in the morning he rang the company and is awaiting currently for the payment so he can buy a replacement. but today he has realise that 3 ( the mobile network) has taken out 150 Pounds from his account when he rang them to ask why was this months bll so high, they said that 150 Pounds worth of international calls were made to Nigeria. NOw then, we all would've of thought that the insurance co. would've of covered that too. But they said that they would'nt and you can only be covered for calls if the he rang with 30 minutes of the first unauthorised call, Unlucky. cos my partner rang 31 minutes after. so he was 1 minute late calling them which we all think is very unfair. Come on. By 1 minute? What he would like to know is if he can get his claim reviewed and if so how?

    I've noticed other people doing that as well Paul. Someone on the Phones Board seems to have just done it to me for the third time - anyone else going to Peru?

    I think you can only do it once!

    permanently yes, but it's very odd that some people put up a query then go offline within about 2 minutes and don't come back for several days
