I want a meter installed, but told I have bad credit rating...?!

Hi, I phoned British gas the other day, from whom I get my electricity. I want to go from a prepayment meter, to instead getting a standard meter installed, to save money. I was told, without explanation that I don't have a good enough credit rating. Now- I don't have any debts. I have never owed B.G. money, or any other…

Well, I learned something there! Thanks Richie! It seems like a crazy system to me, and maybe it is, but I suppose you have to work with what is, not what you think should be. I'm going to think about doing the credit card thing as you suggested. I've also emailed First-Utility, and I'm awaiting their reply. I'll bump this thread if I have any success, might be useful to others.
