Ooooh no post - it's fun! :rotfl:
One bit of advice I saw posted on here - before you buy anything, think to yourself, do I want it or do I need it?
That's stoped me from many an impulse buy and helped my finances too!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

Hi welsh_boi, haven't seen Webitha around for a while actually, tell her I said hello.
Good for you for being organised
And if you're 16 - then get yourself a mini cash ISA and start filling it up

A good piece of advice I read in a book is Tantric shopping. Basically it works like this:-
you see something
you wan't it BUT heres the clever bit
you write down where you saw it and its cost and wait (a month if you can but even a day will do). It prevents an awful lot of impulse buys and gives you the impetus to get a better deal.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
so you found it then? lol
hi gemmzie how you keeping babe?
his isa will be opened with his first wage and the deal is (as he now lives with me) 3rd keep 3rd isa 3rd his spends but out of that he has to buy his own smellies clothes etc i think its fair dont you?

I'm not so bad thanks, just waiting for a hospital date then onto uni in October! How are you?
Very fair. We do the same for my 17 year old brother. Yup, our household budget provides for basic soap, shampoo and a proper deodorant then we all buy the rest ourselves.
Definitely going to need to start saving for car insurance! I think my brother is looking into getting a 1.1 Corsa (insurance group 1) and that's still £900 :eek:No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Hi Welsh Boi - I am SOOOOOOOOOO impressed that you are so wise so young!
Strangely, you may enjoy the old style board, where you will learn really cunning ways to save. And I'm sure you'll like the freebies board.
Slightly less good for you, the grabbit board will point you towards really cheap deals
Sorry, edited because I forgot to say - try searching for 'extreme moneysaving' - it might give you a laugh.......Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -

My mum always did this with me and my sister - a third to pay for our keep, a third went into house deposit/wedding savings and a third to do what we wanted.
The only thing was that she allowed us to take out the cost of getting to work before she divided the thirds up, so for me I bought my monthly train ticket and then split the remainder into 3.
She said it was fairer than doing £x for keep etc because if me and my sister each worked full time, but one was earning more than the other, we were both contributing the same percentage to keep, spends etc, whereas a fixed amount would have ended up unfair.
Anyway, I am rambling now!! Wishing you all the best welsh_boi on your quest to remain debt free!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

We lived in the sticks, 20 miles from anywhere, so our travel outlay was quite high. I think mum allowed us to take this out before dividing into our thirds because she felt guilty at moving two teenagers away from civilisation!! I would have had nothing left if I had to take my train ticket out of my "spends" money!!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes.
