Adware help!

My darling husband has installed something called "shopping help smartbar", I'm assuming this is connected to the droves of ads currently popping up on the side of my laptop screen (ads by TV Wizard). I've run ADW Cleaner and this restarts the laptop and it seems the problem has gone, but if I restart again, they come back.

I can see the "Shopping Help Smartbar" on the program list, but when I try and uninstall it, nothing happens. It won't budge at all.

I'm at my wits end trying to battle these ads, it seems every time I try to use the laptop, I end up spending an hour or more trying to get rid of them.

I'm running Windows 7 and using Chrome browser.

    Hi,

Run Malwarebytes, much better than ADW I find. Not sure of the link but I'm sure someone will be along with it soon.

one thing to add, clean out your temp files ( a windows disk cleanup followed by ccleaner) as this is probably where the installer is sitting, so until you clear out temp files you run the risk of having it re-installed for you....

  • Argh! OK, I've run malwarebytes and it came up with a laod of crap from my hubbys account. Restarted Chrome and the TV Wizard ads are still there. This shopping help smartbar will not budge at all. Not by going to the uninstall in the control panel, nor by downloading the program in the links (it says that it is running the uninstaller but doesn't). I believe that is the root of all the problems but without being able to delete that it looks like I'm stuffed.
