Bartering with high street stores? Is it possible?

Bit of a strange one but is it possible to barter with high street stores?
I've seen a travel system that I really like in Toys r Us but its priced at £260  I wouldn't mind but most of the matching accessories aren't included!!!!! Whilst its my MIL who's going to buy it I would really like some of the accessories that go with it.
Is it possible to barter over the price or maybe even ask for some of the accessories to be included?
Thanks...
ps any example success stories appreciated

This is probably not going to be very helpful but have you tried checking if it sells online, just type in manafacturer and/or model number, chances are it will be cheaper, then you can ask if they will price match (or maybe throw in a few acc's?), it may be a bit easier then asking for a discount
, also if they dont match it you have the option of buying it online.
Good luck, let us know how it goes0 -
Thanks for the quick reply!!!
I've tried searching for it online but its quite an old model (last season in womens terms!) so many places aren't selling it. If I am able to find it then its either the same price or slightly more expensive.
But of course I want to get the most for the price I'm paying

Try www.kiddicare.co.uk you may find the same one but different colour, TRU and Mothercare tend to have exclusive colours so you cant pricematch.0

Thanks for that- They've got it but its the same price without any extras...
Think I'm gonna have to admit defeat on this one :rolleyes:0 -
You haven't got anything to lose by asking! Particularly if you are going to buy accessories at the same time - I have successfully haggled at Dixons, not sure if the spotty teenagers they have at ToysRus would know how to respond, but no harm in trying...(no offence to spotty teenagers around the world, just the ones who work at ToysRus!)0

I agree with the above post.... there is no harm in trying.
I have haggled in dixons, currys etc and have got some good deals.... oh and in mobile phone and camera shops too.
They can only say no!2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -
Oh fab 2 success stories!!!!!
I will defo try it then, although I think the spotty teenagers in my store are spottier and err not as 'caring' as they could be
But hey ho, I'm gonna try it
Thanks for your help

I would consider bypassing the teenagers and ask for the department /supervisor manager. The teenagers might not know how to handle a request like that and i dont imagine they would have the authority to reduce/throw in stuff. WHy not speak to a supervisor and mention the large amount of money you are spending and they may reduce stuff if they havent met their targets that month.
I know in B&Q (where i work) they manager doesnt think twice about offering a reduction if someone is spending alot of money but then my store never reaches its targets! LOL
