I haven't been able to use my CC online since I changed my address.
Is there any way to resolve this?
One merchant said that it was due to a AVS failure.

Silly question, but have you told your CC company about your change in address?Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

AVS, unless it has changed recently, only checks the numerical part of your address so if your address was
23 The Street
London
W1 2RF
the check would be 2312 for full AVS or 12 for partial AVS
For the above life should be simple but where things start getting more complex is with flats or house names or anything else that has more than one way of writing it. So an old address was
2/2 North Court
122 Hill Road
London
W1 2RF
Unfortunately with some the 2/2 would be written 2L instead. Some drop the 122 and just have block name and road. You may also find some are inconsistent when there are multiple numerical parts then which are they using and what sequence they are putting them together in. Should be simple but people always struggle following specs.
You need to check how your bank have the address recorded and ensure you are entering the address in the same format when making purchases.
I thought I would have problems with AVS when I moved to my current place as it has a "dependent street" which I'd never heard of before and lots of websites arent able to deal with. Thankfully the numerical part is always ok and so far our Postie knows how to distinguish between our post and the person who lives on the main road when companies drop the dependent street from the label.0 -

Yes , I have!Have you moved to a new build property? It might be that the address hasn't made it's way onto everybody's PAF file yet.
No it's possible this address has been around longer than me lol!InsideInsurance wrote: »You need to check how your bank have the address recorded and ensure you are entering the address in the same format when making purchases.
I think that could be it as the address on my statements miss out the road - but the postman still delivers them to the right address. I'll pop into branch as they said that they couldn't remedy this over the phone.0
