Hi there,
Wondering if anyone can help. I am travelling to london for a weekend away with the other half and another couple on 14th nov. I was looking for suggestions for dinner/entertainment on the Friday evening. We are all in our early 30's and was looking for something a bit different and then possibly a band or something after dinner.
Also on the Saturday the girls are going off for the day shopping so looking for something for two blokes to do in the day time to keep us entertained. Any suggestions would be greatly received to make the most of our visit
Thanks in advance :beer::beer::beer:

I've not seen it myself, but http://www.guoman.com/hotels/united_kingdom/london/charing_cross/hotel_offers/faulty_towers__the_dining_experience_.html I've seen advertised and would certainly be different

Planet Hollywood is a popular dining destination too as is china town.
http://www.timeout.com/london is worth hunting through for what band or comedy might be on, or restaurant for a particular cuisine
For the boys, depends what you want - all day in a pub? tourist trail?0 -
Many thanks for your suggestions I will certainly look in to the faulty towers evening that does sound like fun0

For the Friday night this could be another choice

So many options - designmynight and timeout are both great websites to peruse - there are so many great options of things to do.
Lots of great and unusual cocktail bars in London which you may enjoy (Shoreditch have a great selection) or you could catch a show?
On the Sat - what sort of thing do you like doing? football match? stadium tour? museum? pub? something historic? so many options in London - you name it and you could probably find it to do!0 -
Guess you dont really understand the scale or range of what London has to offer?
Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Cafe etc are all ok but not at all different. They are a pretty much TGI Fridays with just different things on the wall.
There are many very different places but you'd need to define your budget and preferred cuisine. Went to an Ethiopian restaurant a few weeks ago that was good and certainly different. Flesh and Buns is an interesting experience though more expensive without being silly. The list goes on and on.
As to what is there for two blokes to do? Tons, depends on your preferences. As a quirky option, a few places are doing "gentleman's afternoon tea" where champagne is replaced by beer and finger sandwiches replaced by pork pies and mini cheeseburgers , rather than a victorian tea room its in a wood and leather gentlemans club etc0 -
If either of the blokes are remotely interested in music and instruments, there are music shops galore in Denmark St and all around it. I could happily spend most of a day there.
Fopp is always worth a browse, just down the street from Denmark St.
Wildlife? The wetlands nature reserve, any of the various zoos.
Culture? Art? Museums galore, more galleries than you could shake a stick at.
Trainspotting? Loads of main line rail stations....
What do you WANT to do? What are your interests?0 -
Hi there
Thanks for the replies. I can see now I have left it very open. I like the idea of a quirky pub on the Saturday for a couple of daytime drinks. Somewhere interesting possibly with some good views of london.
The Friday we were thinking about an American diner style meal but not the usual tgi and planet Hollywood. Would like to finish the evening with a trendy bar or club somewhere in london if anyone has any suggestions
Thanks0 -
No shortage of quirky pubs in London, and various online guides to help you find one. Ye Olde Mitre in Hatton Garden is one of the oldest pubs in London with a cherry tree growing in the doorway, so fairly quirky. Views might be more difficult to come by in the centre of town, unless you find something on the river, such as the Prospect of Whitby in Wapping or the Old Thameside on the south bank near London Bridge. Some others can be found on this link:

Haven't eaten in many London diners recently (apart from Giant Robot In Clerkenwell, which may be out of your way). The below link has some other suggestions:

For trendy bars and clubs, again no shortage and many guides, though of course the trendier the bar, the harder it is to get in. One idea could be the Radio bar on the roof of the Me Hotel in Aldwych, has a DJ until late and amazing views of London including Big Ben, St Paul's, London Eye and the ice rink in Somerset house. You can even go outside. You'd definitely need a reservation and it is NOT cheap.
Enjoy the greatest city in the world (IMHO)...0 -
