Laptop 'flashing'

Hi All

Over last few days, my Toshiba laptop will, every 5minutes or so, not precisely, increase the screen brightness, just for a second, then go back to the way it was before.

What have I done to cause this, please?

And how to stop it, of course!

Check for adaptive brightness and turn it off.

Is it possible that the charger is disconnecting occasionally? If this happens, the laptop will revert to the 'on battery' settings which will be different to the 'on charger' settings.
I only say check this, because my Acer does it now and again, and the charger port obviously a bit dodgy
