Oh you paint such a lovely picture rhosynbach. I almost want you to have a power cut after reading that :D
thats what the boys said:o I cant believe they are looking forward to power cuts, we have old fashioned oil lamps filled and ready as well, and a wind up radio so this year we will be well prepared.
I bet we have no power cuts:rotfl:
Actually, the size of the bird wasn't the problem- it was too bloody hot :D the heat it was throwing out was unbelievable - we all had shorts and T- shirt on. The snow was up by the windows, we hadn't seen any lights on round about for days turns out all the electric had gone off round about us and we were one of few who still had electric.

Oh looking foward to that :) only had it lit for a few hours and it did get really hot and cooked the bread and cakes we have no modern heating, only a log fire in the lounge, and now the rayburn which will also heat the water.. and I may do some of the cooking with it :D

Was yours for purchasing at amazon? I wonder if it's the same code as mine, it looks pretty generic to me...

We very rarely have power cuts but we do have an oil lamp, just because :) I love the cosy glow you get from it and its unique smell. I'm not a fan of winter but things like that make it a bit more bearable.
