Oh yes, well spotted about the barcodes."I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again."

I just did my first ever online grocery shop with Tesco I thought I would try the cheese well it partially worked but not as it should have I bought 4 kg of Tesco Everyday Value Mature Cheddar @ £5 a pop = £20 plus 4 packs of 4 branston beans half price @ £1.27 a pop = £5.08 I hope I don't die of a fart attack total £25.08 plus £2 delivery charge giving a total of £27.08 - £10 via codes =£17.08 it wouldn't except the finest code so the although pleased with a £10 saving what did I do wrong?Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

£5 finest still won't work. Best I can do is get a tenner off cheese using the four cheese coupons. Don't get me wrong, still good! I just think I'd be spending £15 for the sake of it

I think that's what makes it difficult for me as it is their choice, not like they are working, I know eventually with DD2 she will be working xmas being a doctor which makes it worse for me as I feel the ones all together will become less frequent.
I guess I have always been lucky Mr TS never questioned that we would spend xmas day with my parents. And boxing day with his mum and aunt, uncle and cousins. His cousin has never spent a xmas day away from her parents either.
We still carry on the tradition of going to his cousins she took over from his aunt and uncle as they have got older. So it will make it difficult fitting in celebrating another day here.
Just remembered DD1's first xmas we slept over his mum's and then went to mine for xmas dinner. Everyone was happy. His mum passed away 1993, DD2 was only few months old and DD3 was a twinkle in Mr TS's eye.
Should have put a waffle alert on that post.
It's a shame and I hope you manage to enjoy the rest of your Christmas. We are going the whole hog and treating the 23rd like its Christmas...kids will get stockings and all their pressies etc. and the door will be locked except to loved ones. Might get some bubbs beef for the dinner. We've always both been in jobs where everything has to carry on as normal no matter what day it is and OH is posted away from homeBut we will make the best of it and like you said, it's not through choice. It's a difficult one, maybe ask them again?

It's very hard - Christmas puts such an emotional strain on all of us. We all want the nice simple family Christmasses when the kids are under 12 and all home.
Sadly Christmas is not set in stone and each year you get a whole different new Christmas.
Ours used to consist of spending most if the day at OHs parents - we hated it but it was expected of us. Then Boxing Day we went to my parents.
All four parents now are long gone and Christmas is one if the times you think about them a lot.
Our 3 are now young adults. 2 of mine live hundreds of miles away but at least for now they still want to come home for Christmas.
Eldest son is stationed abroad and this will be his 4th Christmas on duty - we do get a long phone call which is the high light of our day. At least this Christmas he is not in Kabul and we are thankful for that
In another few years time there might be just 2 of us“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0
