Thanks Savvy, you really should work for S, T, W or M... or Watchdog

    Watchdog:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/1QGkvB6dBHK5fB37jyKf0f/how-much-is-your-discounted-supermarket-wine-really-worth

    http://whatconsumer.co.uk/forum/consumer-rights-television-programmes/10468-bbc-watchdog-sainsburys-price-right-wrong.html

On the second one, yes we are probably meant to think that matching prices is a good thing. I notice how W recently increased the price on the SMA Gold Toddler Milk (200ml) to match T having increased its price. That's what they mean by T price match:D, I commented on the M list previously.

Look at it now! - http://www.waitrose.com/shop/DisplayProductFlyout?productId=62634 - Brand price match checked t.com 10/11/14. :(:(:(It was 45p in T until T put its price up a couple of weeks or so ago. W was previously 45p. So, that "Brand price match" assurance is emphatically not good news! That's what they mean by "Our prices are now identical to T's..." I presume! I do not want them identical to T's when T has put its price up:(. Therefore - avoid! DO NOT BUY FROM W on the strength of its T price match.

Also related to the 'meant to think matching prices is a good thing', and the "we check prices so you don't have to":(. I could not disagree more with the assertion that, because you check prices, we don't have to. We clearly do, when the checking of prices ends up ensuring some tactically, strategically-set price that prices it just enough, and sometimes a price increase is made, to match a competitor's. It's this suggestion that the price promises etc. mean we don't have to shop around.

Nothing could be farther from the truth IMO. The introduction of price promises do NOT mean that we do not need to shop around and that we can rest on our laurels as is the suggestion or even actually said thing of some of the supermarkets. It's in their interest to have us thinking that, because they match prices, we don't need to shop around anymore and can simply shop in that one place (overpaying on virtually everything as we have items offset by the prices of other items more expensive elsewhere). I noticed the "Ant and Dec" advertising continuing over the tannoys in M today. "...while you're there with your feet up...". Absolutely and emphatically the contrary!! I am definitely not going to sit there, my feet up, especially if a supermarket suggests I should and should do all my shopping with them (which is in their interests) and leave my shopping result at the mercy of the stores with points back, if at all, of pence. The price matches etc. do not mean that we can rest assured or sit back at all! Instead, they increase the need for us to know the prices everywhere else.

Returning to the OP, yes I should work for M.:mad: Trying to work out the prices but having different ones showing in different stores today!! On the wines, I now have one of my stores having changed quite a number of First Cape wines from £3.49 on the SEL to £3.99. It previously had £3.99 on just one of them - but that was clearly wrong (IMO) as every other M I have seen has £3.49. Now, the store that had £3.99 on just one has £3.99 on quite a number of them! Still showing at £3.49 consistently in another store though, and on m.com, so, I've decided £3.49 is the better view and taken that approach! I honestly felt like writing to them to ask them to clarify precisely which Air Wicks are on offer at £3.49 given the large number of price discrepancies over those Reed Diffusers, and different versions, between different stores. I think I've decided the Cool Linen is on £3.49, despite it showing £6.99 in one store, and despite it scanning at £6.99 last week in another store that now, finally, has £3.49 on it! With offer until 30/11 clearly displayed. Same store has the Wilkinson Sword Quattro Titanium Razor showing at over £7:eek: - it's had that for three weeks, and still not put any half price label on it:mad::mad:, if indeed it is, during which one other store has shown £3.74 offer price label, until 30/11, yet another store has also shown full price but now showing half price, whilst two further stores do not appear to stock it at all. So - take your pick, maybe it is £3.74 - or maybe not!:rotfl: 2 stores half price, 2 stores full price and 2 stores N/A:rotfl::rotfl:.

Meanwhile, the Air Wick Cinnamon Apple, I've concluded is £3.49 on the basis of one store having it and showing that offer, another store not having it but having the Crackling Rose version clearly up and on offer, and another store having full price on other versions - not showing any offer at all but, strangely, not having a SEL for the Cinnamon Apple. Perhaps the others are on full price therefore:rotfl:, and therefore 'read between the lines', in conjunction with:( the information from the first store, to say that the first store range, as shown there, is on offer and what is on full price there is full price, which is consistent otherwise with what the previous store information suggests.

I've become about 80% sure:( (I should be 100% sure) that the Pork Sausages are no longer on mbuy in M, despite one store consistently showing the mbuy and still doing so for the last two weeks. Last week, I was about 30% of the way towards thinking the offer had now ended, as one store now showed "everyday price" £1.19 (no mbuy 2 for £2, so that everyday price no good:p:rotfl:) yet a further store showed 2 for £2, so went with the majority out of three... and the clincher has now been the mbuy not showing on msm (and presumably m.com, even though that had £2.48 on the Roast Herb Pringles recently when in fact they were £1.24, as seen instore, and had full price on one version of Ryvita Thins when all stores, correctly, had £1 - or at least some of them did:mad:, one of them had managed to put the offer price onto only half the ones there. Typical neuro-typical job more than probably - half a job:(.)

This week, I have another store (I've checked three different stores today to the three different ones checked on Monday - so, six in total over the week:rotfl:) showing 2 for £2, but two others everyday price - actually, one of them isn't fully showing 'everyday price' at all, but appears to have pulled all price SELs for one version of the sausages off of the shelf:(. Neither this store nor the first previous store has any SEL at all for the Italfresco Polenta. And the Carlsberg earlier in the week too! That - I think - is now £12 (I'm still doing the guessing game, as one store doesn't have it - but two now at £12.)

I think that's everything, in this (slight:D) rant! Oh - one of the stores has full price on the Oxo Beef Cubes (24 pack) but the others have £1.50 and clear offer with non-expired 'until' date showing on them. So, clearly the earlier store was wrong. There I go though - I have Oxo cubes on my list, I go to the first store I check, see the higher price, think oh there's been a price increase on the Oxo Cubes, cross them off my list. Then, later, I go to the second store and discover... actually they were £1.50 all along:mad::mad::mad: and still are and end up reinstating them!

And the third store - still has a points offer up on those Med Veg Selections. So, maybe they are still 99p and with 10p in points. Or maybe not - the two earlier stores had no points label showing. Buy them only if they give points, as otherwise not worth it!:rotfl::rotfl: If you can work out in advance whether or not they do!:):)

If you are thinking of BombY Sapphire, A's appear to have dropped the price to match S.

Thanks I will let N know.

Strange thing happened on comp forum earlier. I read a thread and when I clicked to go back to main thread it took me into someone else's post at the stage they had typed and we're about to post. Seemed like a strange error but maybe some people know how to do this:eek: Would account for the strangeness going on.
