:hello: (briefly:rotfl:)! Not money-saving, but neither is FC's last post:D!

_pale__pale__pale_ Christian Fraser, presenting BBC News, wearing a poppy from midnight until about midnight thirty today, 12th November_pale_!

Clearly outside the guidelines period stated here:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/editorialguidelines/news/news_2014_10_20_Poppies

_pale_:rotfl: I'm glad 'common sense' (whatever that is:D:rotfl::rotfl:) prevailed above my ever-present, inextricable noticing of the possible technical breach of the guidelines. It would have been completely unreasonable to expect him to remove his poppy immediately on the stroke of midnight, part way through the show. So, there we have the allistic people's:D non-compliance with literal and strict technical markings of the day, that they created themselves:rotfl:, it's your world folks, not mine:D, giving way to the social context and unwritten (presumed) etiquette - I presume so, I do not know, since you haven't told me or written it down to me, leaving me to do my guesswork once again:rotfl::rotfl: - of keeping a poppy on for the duration of a programme - only reasonable!

At the same time, the allistic people's seeming inability to write correct rules to demark the actual time, thus leaving the programme in technical breach. Why do they not state midnight 30 - and then of course they'd have to end the programme dead on time - do you think allistics could ever manage that one?!?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: - no, I don't think so!:D:D:D:D - so that the social etiquette is covered rather than write rules (that say 23.59 on 11 November) that don't comply with it and purport to apply a different standard that, in fact, is never followed, never expected to be followed and never sanctioned against!:rotfl:

At the ever-present risk of misunderstanding, I'm not for one moment (or any longer than that for that matter) arguing that the poppy shouldn't be worn into the very early hours of 12 November and not therefore arguing that it should be removed! I thanked the post earlier about the bus driver stopping at 11am, I think that was a very good thing and great respect to the driver:T.

Normal people never comply with rules - don't get me onto the roadworks and people trying to drive at constant 40 mph (oops, I'm onto there!), including through a clear 30 sign area, people backing up behind me, undoubtedly getting irritated by my unexpected compliance with the speed limit - and yes, I understand about driving according to the road conditions (whilst complying with the legal requirements of speed limits), very intimidating actually to be right up behind me, then... back to 'national speed limit' - and immediately their cars are left trailing, fading quickly into the distance - clear road, single carriageway, ahead of me and me doing up to 60 mph.

They drive at constant 40 or 45 mph, regardless of the signs! Why do normal people do this? I can't figure out why - no-one has ever explained to me (and yes, I do need everything explaining!) why they do this. I suspect it's because they don't even notice the speed limit signs at all, regardless of their location or how big they are - and probably don't understand what the national speed sign is, looks like or means.

I don't really 'get' the concept of 'average speed limit' checks either. So - that means you can be X miles an hour over the limit, as long as you're X miles an hour under it at the second of two of their checks? To me, a speed limit is a speed limit. Then again, I'm also aware that they 'allow' you 10% over - so - that means that, as long as the average is 10% over, you're okay?!? Or does it have to be the average does not then carry a 10% allowance?

On another occasion, I've actually seen, on one road, a sign saying "40 means 40".

No it does not:p. 40 actually means 44. Because the 10% allowance is allowed. I'm used to normal people almost never saying what they actually mean though and I assume they must mean almost anything except! Unless, on that road, 40 does actually mean 40 and that they disapply the 10% allowance guidance that applies everywhere else. In which case, their seemingly explicit "40 means 40" is in fact not clear at all, since it does not now specify whether or not the 10% still applies (that's the problem, when you don't apply the original rule strictly in the first place! Although, neither do I expect you to and nor am I arguing that that you should). In point of fact, I still do up to 40 (and not above) even there, so I would never have a situation of any non-compliance with whatever rule they are applying. However, perhaps that doesn't apply at all! Since, in practice, most people's behaviour appears to be to ignore any written rules, including laws about speed limits, and obviously some unwritten standard must apply instead:rotfl:. You lot are, theoretically, very confusing! Good job I don't allow myself to be easily confused - as much as I probably confuse everyone else here:rotfl::laugh:. Goodnight/morning!:D:wave:
