I am trying to upgrade from XP to Vista Premium. The PC is a Packard Bell IMEDIA MC 2469.
I was following the instructions and it said to update the BIOS. I downloaded the BIOS that was for my machine burnt it to a disk and installed it on the restart.
Now the computer will not boot up!!!
All I get is access to the Bios by pressing F2. If I press nothing as if leting the computer boot up normally nothing happens apart from a very noisy fan and a blinking dash in the top left hand cornor of the monitor.
Please if anyone has any suggestions of how to get it working again I would be ever so grateful.
Many thanks.

Does F2 work, if so, try resetting bios to defaults.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

After flashing the bios it will revert back to factory defaults.. It might have changed the boot up sequence. Go into the Bios and tell it to whatever drive the operating system is on. You might be better setting it as
1st device. your cd/DVD
2nd device. the HDD your operating system is on
For some reason the default on my motherboard tells it to boot from USB.. dont know why that is.0 -
excellent! thank you so much. I've been reading all these horror stories of how updating the BIOS can fry the motherboard. Everthing looks ok now.0
