Make sure your new desktop has the same slot to install the older card, not all desktops now seem to have PCI slots but just a PCI-Express slot or such like.

True, my Freeview card is PCI and won't fit my current PC build which is all PCI-express.

However, you can buy converters which enables PCI cards to be connected to PCI-express connectors, although how they mount them I do not know. I don't suppose it would be perfect as in not being able to plug directly into the motherboard and exit at the back of the case it is normal.

But it would be cheaper to buy a new TV card.

Sam - do you want a media center key? Think I've got a spare one somewhere (ms were giving it away for free when win 8 came out)

XBMC supports live TV through a 3rd party backend like dvbdream etc.

edit- Yup, found a spare key, pm me if you want it.

Thank you very much for your kind offer...I guess the problem is my windows is 8.1 so it needs upgrading to 8pro ( at cost of £100) before I can use the media centre key...although I stand to be corrected
