    True,

NIE will put it in for free, then go with the lowest tariff, i went with SSE.
A few seconds to top up online.
budget will let you top up over the phone as well .Automated service .Then they will send a text to a mobile so you have the number with you when you go to your keypad.

they dont remove the meter anymore , well not in good areas .
They tell the supplier the final reading and thats it .
As you recently bought it may be worth asking via the agent who the supplier is .

have you a keypad ? do you want a keypad ?
decide that then decide who you want as your supplier .
As you have no previous bills either monitor your usage and take regular readings or get a keypad .

NIE will change a meter for you if you want a keypad in or out .

  • Thanks for the reply.
No keypad currently and I don't mind bill pay method. Would like to pay an average set amount monthly, if possible.
That said airtricity is looking like a possible option, as is power ni.

If you're going down the meter / direct debit route then it would appear that Airtricity or Electric Ireland are offering the best prices. Also worth considering that Airtricity is a fixed contract with penalties for leaving early whereas Electric Ireland has no contract and you are free to switch anytime you want.

Airtricity are currently the cheapest for keypad customers but the discounted rate is only for 1 year, after that you switch back to their normal higher price or you can move to another provider
