The slave is inside the gearbox. A bright idea that.
I can only assume you don't have a clue how a concentric slave cylinder works, then?
I'm sure all will be well with the clutch; unfortunately, it's the inconvenience that you can't really get fixed.
Hopefully it won't sour your enjoyment of the new car when you get it back fixed.0 -

I won't pretend to know anything about the above - my car knowledge is severely limited!
I have had a text off the garage manager today whos obviously got my message saying "sorry to hear of a problem so soon and sure we can sort - will be in from 8am on monday and can lend you a car while we sort unless its a quick fix which we try and do while you wait - again sorry and speak on monday"
I'm hoping this is promising for a quick fix with no resistance from them!DFW - Diary "Running out of time! Trying to get debt free & house ready by June 2016"

The first bit was for the previous poster, apologies for any confusion as I was just pointing out it was a bit of a daft statement.
I'm sure you'll be fine, and despite common belief, most guys (but not necessarily all!) in the user car trade are good guys. I'm willing to bet they're pretty mortified and will do what they can to put things right.
Always hate courtesy and hire cars - useful to have them, but a pain trying to keep people from damaging them when parked up!0 -
sounds like they want to help, hope all goes ok. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

Ah ok! No worries - my confusion
Well they fixed it! No problems thankfully - it was the clutch plate and they've fitted a new 3 part clutch? So hopefully that was just a blip and should be happy driving from now on
Thanks all for the advice!DFW - Diary "Running out of time! Trying to get debt free & house ready by June 2016"

You assume wrong. I know exactly how they work and have changed more than i care to remember.
Still doesnt make it a good idea though.
Why do i need to take the gearbox off to change a clutch? Datsun managed methods without box removal, So did vauxhall.
Remove a cover or plate and drop the clutch out sounds a lot more sensible to me.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

If you knew how a CSC worked then you'd also know that it is placed over the input shaft, making external fitting relatively pointless.
Rover used to make engines in the early 1900s with hinged cylinder heads to facilitate easy head gasket replacement. VW made the Beetle air-cooled as an improvement on water-cooled engines, etc. etc. Engineers don't change things just to annoy you, it's due to designs being inefficient, flawed or too expensive to manufacture.
To the OP: Glad you got it sorted and can get back to enjoying your new car!0
