headboard quandry

Hi, I've just moved into a double room (rented accommodation) which has got a nice, solid storage bed in it... which has no headboard and no holes for a headboard.
Normally I would just push the bed against the wall and not worry about a headboard, but the head of the bed doesn't fit into the alcove, so it can't fit against that wall. There is nowhere else in the room the bed can go and no other way to orient it. It's gotta stay where it is. Plus it's pretty immovably heavy.
This is a type of bed that has drawers in the bottom. I was thinking I could get the type of headboard with struts and sort of wedge it in between the mattress and drawers, and the bed frame (ie I can see straight down to the floor in the gap between the mattress and frame)
My question is - is there any easier way to do this? I don't really want a wobbly headboard!

fix it at the top, depending on the gap a straight piece of metal may hold it or an L shaped bracket if its off the wall.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

Yes, get a bracket. I got a new headboard and the holes in the headboard did not line up with the holes in the bed so we got a couple of L shaped brackets from B&Q and fastened it that way.

If you have a feel about 2/3 inches in from the side, I'm guessing there will be T nuts under the fabric built into the wood section of the divan base.
Pop to a friendly bed shop and ask to purchase some headboard bolts.
Normally divans when they arrive just have a sticker over the T nuts to indicate where they are, I'm guessing these have been removed.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0
