Floor tiling - how many mm to leave for adhesive?

Hey!
After more diy help :-)
Doing my tiling in kitchen (which meets my living room...no door).
The depth between bare floor and laminate in living room is 20mm. Tiles are 8mm. What depth of ply wood/board do I get? I'm guessing I need to leave room for adhesive.
Thanks!

Hold on.
What's the existing floor?
I'd guess floor boards hence the ply. All depends on type of tile and the adhesive you're using. Trowel will be 8-10mm notch but you're best off asking at the tile supplier. Any movement in the sub floor will see the tiles or grout cracking.0 -
If your kitchen floor is timber, you will need 12mm plywood. An 8-10mm notched adhesive bead will settle to 3 or 4 mm. So add this 20 your 8mm tile, then you ate at 24 mm.
You can use a 6mm concrete based backer board instead of the 12mm ply and will be just as effective. This will give you 20mm overall.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
