Going on Monday seen varying info re current Visa Cost.
I am aware of the 'rep scam' and to use the banks on the left as you arrive but how much is the current cost? Can it be paid in sterling or is it best in US dollars and do you need exact money?
I have seen $25 per person but not sure this is correct
Many thanks.

Changed since I last went... See info below0 -
The cost is $15 US Dollars, but you will get screwed for £15.
Considering how much more your likely to be screwed throughout your trip it's barely worth worrying about.

Visa is $25US these days. You may be able to purchase for £17 at the bank when you arrive but it can cost as much as £20 from tour operators sadly.0 -

Its $25 per person now, the cost went up a few months back. You can pay in Dollar or £. If you pay in £ then expect to pay approx £16 per person depending on the exchange rate.
These are the costs from the bank, if you go to the reps expect to pay $30 or £20 per person.
That article also makes no sense to me and makes it sound like a ghost town which it isn't and you are only going to get screwed if you let yourself get screwed. I don't so i don't.:beer:0 -

Everyone that goes to Egypt gets screwed.
There are no exceptions.0 -
So if I take £16 x 3=£48 for 3 of us in Sterling and pay at the Banks on the left I will have the correct money?0

No. The exchange rate varies from day to day. The cost printed on the visa which is attached to your passport is face value $25. In sterling it will be in the region of £17 at the bank kiosks. Allow a bit more and you will get change back in Egyptian pounds.
Incidentally, change your sterling into local currency at the same time. A much better rate than in the UK
You need your wits about you in Egypt but that's the same any where in the world even here at home.0 -
Thank you-Yes I remember last year we followed the 'crowd' and paid the 'reps'-Hard to believe this practice is allowed in what is supposedly a secure area.
Will go to the Banks and pay in Sterling then.
Just hope we are safe following the announcement this weekend re increase in threat from ISIS worldwide.0 -
I am currently in Sharm and have had no concerns whatsoever about safety but cannot speak for Hurghada.0
