A flaw in the card, but we are safe because the banks have security systems.

Interesting to read, although it doesn't really make a difference to our day-to-day lives, the banks would still refund it.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0 -

Its a pointless article. There are only three countries that this flaw would even start to work in and then the transactions wouldn't be approved.
In Australia and New Zealand, contactless is enabled for any amount but the card decides on the verification method above the 100 AUD/80 NZD limit. While the card wouldn't ask for a PIN, issuer would see a transaction over the limit with no verification method and decline the transaction (All terminals will check with the bank for transactions over the limit).
The other country is the US, where EMV contactless isn't accepted (Magnetic stripe based contactless is currently used) and the app doesn't clone the MSD based contactless on the card (Most contactless cards support EMV (Chip and PIN/Signature based standard contactless and magnetic stripe data based contactless, this flaw only applies to the former.)
Admittedly Visa were lazy and they didn't put the contactless limit on each card for each currency like MasterCard and American Express did. Although the list is hard to keep updated as countries limits may change.0 -
Here's one for you, how many banks make there credit cards contactless, as well as their debit cards.
Not many I imagine, it's not much of a worry to them when your money is at a potential fraud risk by having it taken through these devices. But if it's the banks lending money that is at risk, then I don't think they would be so keen.
I don't mean to sound like a conspiracist, and I may be completely wrong, but I've never come across a contactless credit card, has anyone else?0 -

Agreed. Most credit card companies issue contactless cads.
American Express, Lloyds Bank, TSB and Capital One also issue them.0 -
Interesting, I had a paywave transaction for AU$60 declined last week! It was subsequently approved using PIN.0

Where is your evidence for this statement?Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

My Santander 123, Halifax Clarity, Amex, MBNA Visa and MBNA Mastercard credit cards are all contactless... Which is all of my credit cards.
In fact to me, it has been easier to get contactless credit than it has to get contactless debit.0 -
As it's only Visa, this would appear to protect many cardholders by default.
Many credit card providers primarily issue MasterCard or Amex now with Visa seemingly out of fashion. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Slightly off topic but I would like to know, do you have to actively enable contactless with your cards or is it automatic?
I have chosen not to use contactless because I don't see the need for it and also I'm not convinced of how secure it is. I would like to think that contactless doesn't work on my cards, is this the case?0
