Transaction not on statement

in Credit cards
Checking my credit card statement, I've found a transaction in my records which hasn't come up on the statement. It's now a month old, so I would expect to see it, and it's for a supermarket. Obviously I know that I need to pay the money, but I'm not sure quite what to do. Should I contact the supermarket, my credit card company, or just wait another month or so and see what happens?
Any ideas?
And no, "keep quiet" just isn't an option for me, that's just not who I am, sorry!

It'll appear eventually. I had one appear 6 weeks later. Annoying when you know it should be there and it isn't and it looks like you have plenty of credit limit available when you know you don't. If it hasn't appeared on the statement within a week the reserved amount is released but it can still appear much later.
My advice...wait another month. Maybe speak to customer services at the supermarket asking if they've had any reports from other customers on the day you made your purchase.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Have you contacted your CC issuer to see if there's a pending transaction on there for it?Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0 -
It's not that uncommon for transactions to take a while to appear, the vendor has 6 years (5 in Scotland) to claim the money from you, although after 6 months they really shouldn't just put the transaction through without at least warning you that it'll be coming.
However, supermarkets are usually pretty hot at presenting transactions in a timely fashion, so it is quite likely that something has gone wrong in this case. It might well show up on an internal reconciliation report which would allow them to track it down and send it through their acquirer system, and that might happen at the end of month, so you could see it coming through in a few days.
If it was me I'd leave it in my records so that I'd know the amount was still outstanding and I'd probably have to pay it at some point, but I wouldn't raise it with the supermarket just in case they've lost it permanently and you end up with a free purchase.0 -
I'm also of the impression that the supermarkets are very good at getting their money into their accounts as soon as possible, and so it's possible that this payment will never show up. I hear your sentiment that you're not they kind of person to simply accept not paying for the transaction, I share your morals there. About 10 years ago this happened to me on my debit card, and I waited and waited. Eventually, convinced that the transaction was never going to appear (I waited about three years though I now see that I could have still been liable) I decided that I needed to pay for my goods, but as the supermarket obviously didn't want it I gave it to a charity that did... Every little helps for charities0
