I always get an email to read the meters but this time they have just produced an estimated bill. Having read the meters today they are saying am I sure of the readings as they are "not inline with their estimations" ????
They have under estimated my Electric by 200 units and over estimated the gas by about 20 units.!
What pillock of a company make a guess then questions the correct information????

Apparently the issue is my gas reading is lower than the last reading

Whenever an actual reding is provided and there are estimated readings before they should remove the estimates and bill from the lasy actual to the latest actual. It runs in line so don't see what the problems is. I would take a picture of the reading and the meter serial number on the meter in case they want proof.0

It's not just BG.
I give a reading every month to who ever I get my gas and electricity from.
I gave the Co-op a reading online and they were insisting it was to low as they had managed to calculate I was using 60 kWh a day of electricity whereas I normally use 11 kWh.
How they managed that I don't know because I only switched to them in September and the only reading they had was the one I gave them when I switched.
I think I'll give them a reading every day.
Sometimes you wonder if it is worth all the hassle to switch.over 73 but not over the hill.0 -
I've had word back the concern was my gas reading as they estimated i would use 15 more units than i actually have probably because i've not had the heating on and i've got a wet room with an electric shower.
They underestimated my electric my usage is between 1100/1200 units per billing period they estimated it at 881 . I WISH !
They have ammended my bill but said the next one is due at Christmas so i need to send a reading in on Dec 23rd.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
It was probably the electric that they were concerned about as it was about 25% higher than they estimated (the estimate being above average consumption).
15-20 gas metered units (metric) only costs about £5-£7 so they wouldn't have worried about lopping that off the bill for now.
But to get a revised hefty electric bill, without asking you to double check the reading supplied, could have resulted in similar upset if it was proved to have been an erroneous reading.
Have you asked them why your next bill is scheduled for Christmas?
If you were billed end of July, and then end of Oct ... then you would normally expect the next bill to be generated end of January.0 -
No -They have said its the gas reading as the actual reading was lower than their estimate.
I've decided to submit readings once a month to keep it on track.
The have said the billing periods are March ,July, October and December no idea why surely it makes more sense to have them every 3 months. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
