Tesco Credit Card application process

Hi

my son has applied for Tesco credit card

this has been 'dragging' for 3 months now since August

latest was that they requested certified copies of passport and driving licence

we sent these and on 15th of Sept he got them back with a letter saying they'll 'get back in touch shortly'

My son works a lot so he has not called them, when he did a few days ago, it was at 9pm, he was told he needed to be passed onto a manager but there was not one available, my son then got called out and he left so ended the phonecall.

We have applied for a current account too.

Today he got a letter asking again for copies of passport and driving licence in connection to his current ac application.

We have now placed these in post together with the letter he received about his credit card application and asking them to get back to us in regards to the credit card.

Anyone else got this credit card application dragging like this? is it just them not being organised on their side?

it's now 3 months+ :(

  • Is he on the electoral roll? I'd have a guess that if he's not, this is why they're asking for all these documents to prove his identity. Get him registered online now.

He's going to have to contact them about it, but I'd have a guess that he's not been accepted. Tesco are one of the pickier lenders, so if your son doesn't have a good credit history, then chances are he won't be accepted.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

thank you but yes he is on the electoral roll

he's 19 in full time employment

if he was not accepted all they have to do is say no right?

I certainly was sent a 'reject' letter from Tesco last year, then this year they asked me for same documents as my son PLUS my bank statements!!! and then I received my credit card from them.

so asking him those documents apparently is something they do as they did with me before accepting me.
  • I dont know about your situation, but the process for the credit card was very simple in my experience. It took about 10 minutes online. Cards arrived a week later
